Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco took a swipe at falsified media speculations about the exodus of players during the January transfer window saying such allegations are malicious and to the detriment of the team. According to various media reports, players who have been touted to be on their way out are Patrick Tignyemb, Wandisile Letlabika, Khotso Rikhotso and Lantshene Phalane.

“I can confirm that even today (3rd of January 2019) no one ever enquired or made a formal proposal to purchase anyone of our players. We are fully aware that during this time of the season the media will create hype about rumours of players being wanted by certain teams.”

Konco concluded by saying “I must emphasize that all the aforementioned players are still contracted to the team and some still in negotiations to extend their stay. Such stories impact negatively on the team and causes uncertainty with our supporters suffering in the process. If there are any changes to the squad, we will duly inform the public.”
