Free State Stars have confirmed the release of five players from their squad as they make changes under new coach Nikola Kavazovic.

Midfielder Thabang Klaas, Cesaire Gandze, winger William Twala, and strikers Maboke Matlakala and Judas Moseamedi, have all been let go after the arrival of the Serbian coach who replaced former boss Luc Eymael, with the new tactician wanting to take the team in a new direction.

Moseamedi has already found a new home after signing with Maritzburg City on loan from his mother club Cape Town City, where he reunites with coach Muhsin Ertugral after the pair worked together at the now defunct Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Klaas spent 18 months at Stars after arriving from Polokwane City, while Matlakala was an arrival at the start of this campaign from Cape Umoya United. Gandze was signed from Congolese side AC Leopards.

Kavazovic started at Stars with a home defeat to Wits last weekend but got an important come from behind victory over fellow relegation candidates Maritzburg United on Wednesday.
