Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker received stitches to a cut just below his eye after an elbow to the head in Wednesday’s loss at Chippa United in Port Elizabeth.

But he could be fine to face Platinum Stars in the club’s next outing in the Absa Premiership on Saturday at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, said coach Steve Komphela after the 1-0 defeat at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Parker had to be stretchered off late in the game after being cut by a clash of heads.

“It is one of things where we could see him back by Saturday,” said the Chiefs coach.

It is second time that a Chiefs player has suffered a facial injury in successive games against Chippa at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

In the Telkom Knockout match-up between the two clubs in late October, Itumeleng Khune broke a bone around his eye socket after a clash with Kurt Lentjies but bounced back within days to play for Bafana Bafana in their two World Cup clashes against Senegal.
