Bloemfontein Celtic has embarked on a vigorous pre-season schedule that includes friendly games against other PSL teams and on Sunday 30th July, the team took part in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup in honour of his Majesty, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

With the Zululand squad pitted against Celtic at 09h00 followed by AmaZulu facing Mbabane Swallows at 11h00, the Kwa-Zulu Natal selection team succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Free Stators with both Ali Abondo and Tshegofatso Mabasa netting a goal each.

Celtic and AmaZulu then wrapped the day with a brilliant final game that saw Siwelele becoming the ultimate winners, taking home the prestigious trophy through Kabelo Mahlasela's solitary goal.

William Mothokoa, Celtic'steam manager explains, “Winning the tournament has reignited the winning mentality and it was great seeing players enjoying the win. Since Tuesday when we arrived in Durban, the atmosphere has been sublime with players taken through their paces by our astute coach and his knowledgeable technical team. Everyone sees the importance of starting well when the season begins and the commitment that has been detected even from our new signings has been great.”

“Our strikers, including Victor Letsoalo and Ndumiso Mabena have been banging goals even during previous friendly games and that is good for the morale of the team. The technical team will have a positive headache selecting the team for our first game of the season because all the players are performing well and are ready for the official games." Concluded the modest Mothokoa.
